What a week

The week started out so great (can you believe a Monday was a good day??!!) I was so excited to go to Ohio for my scrapbook weekend. Amy and Angie were on board and we were waiting for Krista's yes! However the week went down hill after that. DD2 woke up sick with the runs on Tuesday, which turned to vomiting within 30 minutes. She was sick every 30-45 all day long. The poor thing. I stayed home with her Tuesday, DH stayed home with her Wednesday. Thursday we were all back to school and work. DS came down with it last night. I am working from home again!

Our girls weekend got postponed due to Krista not being able to come, and the flu bug circulating around Angie's house. It is so bad at her house that her son had to be admitted to the hospital Wednesday in the wee hours of the morning and is hoping to be discharged today. It has been really bad for her and extremely stressful. Amy's daughter was sick Monday and no one else has gotten sick (yet).

DS has a hockey tournament this weekend, so the good news, I will be able to make all the games.

More this weekend!

Today as I was rushing out the door with the kids and we were all getting our boots, jackets, hats, and mittens on, DD1 said, mom Lauren (another child at school) said her dad has a blackberry. I told her my mom has a blueberry. She said, no that can't be, it is called a blackberry. I told her she was wrong because my mom had a blueberry, right?

After much thought, I replied, I actually have a blackberry for work, but my personal cell phone is called a blueberry! I thought she was so funny, I didn't have the heart to tell her she was wrong. So now when I ask her to bring me my phone, I will have to ask for blackberry or blueberry!

Kids are just so funny.

Hayppy 2010!

Well, well, well, today is the last day of Christmas break. I would not be surprised if we have a snow day tomorrow. It is 10 degrees and with wind chill it is -19. BRRRR. The snow is still falling and blowing. The drifts are amazing. We have no snow in the front yard and can see the grass, but the walkway to the house is halfway up Rob's calf.

We had a great break. The kids and I were all in school/work thru December 23rd. We started baking the 24th and just relaxed. I was not feeling well and laid down. The next thing I knew we had missed the children's mass at church. Christmas day was very relaxing and the kids were so excited - which was really nice to see. They were finally all old enough to get all excited.

Other things we did during break. Sledding - was so much fun, went to Alvin and the Chipmunks, the Squeal. Went to two hockey games, shopped, lots of skating, scrapbooking, going to the YMCA, having kids over to play and relaxing.

New Year's Eve we spent at home (which is what we usually do). We had family game night. It was a blast. We had tacos for dinner, chocolate covered strawberries and bananas, chips and dip, cheetzits, nachos, and fritos for snacks during the night. We started the family game night with boys against girls in a puzzle challenge (girls won). We than played lots of hands of Uno (girls won 3 and boys won 1). Next we played racko (girls won 1 and boys won 2). Lastly, we played Grinch bingo (girls won 2 and boys none). Everyone went to bed early - we just can't stay up until the ball drops. Maybe another year!

Happy New Year - I hope 2010 is better than 2009.
